Free Initial Consultation

At Human Process and Development Group we offer a free, first time consultation. Why on earth would we do that?

There are two good reasons why…

First, we want to give folks the chance to meet us without paying for the privilege.  We understand that for most people it is pretty challenging to go to see a counselor or therapist for the first time.   Most clients really are not comfortable about seeking out and beginning such work.

At Human Process and Development Group we believe that you should be given the opportunity to see who we are, how we think, and how we work, without having to pay in order to find that out. That way, you can make an informed decision about where you are investing your time, energy, and your money.  Most folks wouldn’t buy a car without a “test drive.”    We believe it’s reasonable to “test” your therapist too.

Second, it’s important to us that everyone who comes into our offices has the opportunity to work with a counselor or therapist who can truly be helpful to them.   Not every counselor is the best counselor for every individual, or for every client situation.

When our clients take advantage of our free, initial consultation, it gives us the chance to get a sense of whether our services and resources are a good match for them.  If we feel that a client would benefit from working with another therapist in town, we will make a referral. The free initial consultation permits us to help clients to find the best counseling situation for them. It’s not always possible to make this determination in the first visit, but the first visit is set up to help towards this end.  Whenever it becomes clear that a client would probably benefit more from a different approach, or a counselor with a different personality, we will make a referral.

We are in this business first to be of service to people, even if the best service is to refer folks to other helpers.
